Welcome to the the discipline of chemistry at IIT Gandhinagar (IIT-GN). Established in the year 2009 the discipline has steadily grown in faculty strength, research infrastructure and overall research directions. The discipline is engaged in fundamental and applied research in diverse areas like catalysis, biochemistry, drug discovery, organic photochemistry and computational chemistry.

The academic programs of the discipline include, Ph.D and M.Sc (Masters) in Chemistry, in addition to various interdisciplinary and undergraduate courses. The discipline aims at distinguishing itself as a center of innovative and pioneering research.

  • The discipline congratulates Prof. Bhaskar Dutta on receiving the LJGI UG Chemical Sciences Teaching Award of the Gujarat Science Academy for the year academic year 2017.
  • Mr. Ajay Kumar (M.Sc Chemistry) is selected for the "Shastri Research Student Fellowship - SRSF" and will spend the summer with Prof. Derrick L. J. Clive at University of Alberta, Canada.
  • The discipline conducted the “National Conference: Chemistry of Materials and Biologicals” at IIT Gandhinagar on Jan 4th - 5th, 2018.
